City vaults and wine cellars

City vaults and wine cellars (Rzeszów-Jarosław trail)

The trail runs from Rzeszów through Łańcut, Przeworsk and Jarosław, to Przemyśl, on the edge of the Rzeszów Foothills and large plains.

  1. Rzeszów is a city with many attractions and excellent restaurants, but sometimes it is worth going out to other equally interesting places. Before doing that, you should try the superb beers and food at Stary Browar Rzeszowski, and explore the secrets of the city on the Underground Tourist Route (Podziemna Trasa Turystyczna).

  2. Then go east to Łańcut and visit one of the most beautiful aristocratic residences in Poland, which used to be owned, in succession, by the noble families of Pilecki, Stadnicki, Lubomirski and Potocki. Łańcut also has an interesting old town, a historic synagogue and two Jewish cemeteries with ohalim of famous tsaddiks. There is also the Museum of Distillation, unique in Poland, located in a Classicistic manor house from 1833. Visitors are required to make a telephone appointment before arrival.

  3. After a few kilometres you reach Kosina, the birth place of Leopold Lis-Kula, a famous member of the Polish Legion. In the middle of the village, several hundred meters south of the main road, there is the wooden Church of St. Sebastian, built in 1737. Next on the trail is the town of Przeworsk. Here is the palace and park of the Lubomirski family, and the open air museum in Pastewnik, where authentic wooden buildings moved from other places in the region are presented. Those who have more time can go for a vintage trip by the narrow-gauge Pogórzanin railway. One must-visit place in Przeworsk is a local winery, Przeworskie Winnice, famous far beyond the region.

  4. From here it’s just under 20 kilometres to Jarosław, a town with a charming location and architecture. Beautiful streets and squares, and mysterious underground passages can be admired for days. Another place to visit in the town is a local winery, Winnica Rodziny Steckich.

  5. The trip can be continued through Radymno and Żurawica to Bolestraszyce and Przemyśl. The arboretum in Bolestraszyce has an enormous collection of rare plants, and organizes the International Festival of the Cornelian Cherry.

  6. Much can be said about Przemyśl, one of the oldest towns in Poland. There are many old listed building, forts of the Przemyśl Fortress, Molotov Line bunkers, etc. One thing is for sure – this town is a must-see.

  7. From Przemyśl there are just 10 km to Krasiczyn Castle. Here you can discover the secrets of the castle vaults, have an exquisite meal and stay overnight.
